Everyone starts somewhere in Social Media. Tips and tricks we’ve all learned along the way can be especially helpful to those still navigating uncharted waters.
This interview series features twitter accounts in and around the construction industry, a growing population within the Twittersphere. My only disclaimer is that I do not always agree with the advice.

1. When did you start your twitter account?
September 20, 2009. (Got to love the Hub Spot guys as I had no clue where to find that.)
2. What was your biggest obstacle in twitter?
Deciding to join. I remember when this was brought up on a forum and my joke was; sure what are you supposed to do, tweet “this is my first tweet while nailing” followed up by “ouch, one shouldn’t tweet while trying to nail?”
3. How often do you tweet? Do you have a schedule?
Like many others have said, I tweet daily. In short, my schedule is dictated by what I am doing during the day.
4. What is your recommendation to new people on twitter?
I would recommend they watch Amy Good’s (aka @SplinterGirl) webinar she did for Builder Link first and check out the advice given by some of the previous Featured Tweeters.
5. What is your favorite hashtag and why.
While I don’t consider them my favorites, the two most used by me are #FF for FollowFriday & #IN to update my LinkedIn profile. My favorites would have to be when there is a tweetup for some of the different conventions / seminars, or keeping track of a special group like the #LetsBlogOff.
6. Did you have a twitter mentor? How did that come about?
Yes and no; fortunately for me, I met some great people early on like Amy aka @SplinterGirl, Mike aka @eXapath, Michael aka @TheGreenBuilder, John aka @BirminghamPoint, and Earl aka @emk_architect.
7. Can you recommend a twitter account that we should be following?
Um wow, there are so many great people and groups out there that it is nearly impossible to just choose one. If you want a list of great architects, green lawyers, designers, contractors, industry news groups, you might want to check out my #FF tweets.

So here’s hoping you all had a great week and here’s to a better weekend.

Thanks for the feature of SLSConstruction! I’ve enjoyed connecting with Sean and have also appreciated learning from him and some of his featured “mentors” as well.
Thanks Paul; we appreciate that very much. Sean is a great connection for sure.
