Q1. Okay fellow contractors let’s get personal. What’s in your kitchen?
A1: The all-essental coffee pot, cat's food+water, fridge, stove, cabinets, bits and bobbles for personalization. #ConstChat
— Floors To Your Home (@FTYHFlooring) October 22, 2015
I have a kitchen #ConstChat
— Construction Data (@cdcnews) October 22, 2015
A1) In my kitchen I have a beautiful island & great sun exposure whenever I open up my screen leading out to the deck #ConstChat
— Fabuwood Cabinetry (@Fabuwood) October 22, 2015
I've got my own cabinets in here (@beshcabinets) and quartz ctops. And Wine. #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A1. Gas stove, frig, cabinets, lots of appliances, small table. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
Q2. How do you keep the cost down when you’re doing a kitchen?
We *try* to be as organized as possible to minimize go-backs #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A2: Never remodeled, but I'd settle for function over form. That's not for everybody, though. #ConstChat
— Floors To Your Home (@FTYHFlooring) October 22, 2015
A2. Semi custom over custom is one big way – finding a way to bring in natural light also helps with lighting #constchat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
A2 I guess DIY, the only thing we've done is new floors, new faucet on sink and I had to install a new microwave recently #ConstChat
— Construction Data (@cdcnews) October 22, 2015
A2. Call your brother to do the plumbing. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
A2. Different door styles when designing the kitchen. You can cut costs substantially using finished ends instead of door panels! #ConstChat
— Direct Sinks (@DirectSinks) October 22, 2015
Q3. When talking to potential clients, what do you suggest to make a kitchen uniquely theirs?
A3 I tell my clients to ignore trends and resale and make it THEIR kitchen to enjoy. #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A3. Of course, using window film to cut glare, create privacy. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
I mean, barring something totally insane like a tractor on the countertop or something. #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A3: We ask about their needs (Kids? Pets?) to get a feel for how much foot traffic the kitchen floor will get. #constchat
— Floors To Your Home (@FTYHFlooring) October 22, 2015
A3 – besides the usual look at houzz… tell me exactly how you use / want to use – checklist to help https://t.co/FHEgsuuA4d #constchat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
We ask Q's like whether they're foodies, or have people over frequently so we can plan for appliances & circulation #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
Q4. What do you see trending more: stains or paints in kitchen cabinets?
With paints, people can pick whatever color they want. High gloss paints are a nice workaround for foils you can't fix #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A4 – I think it can be regional & style chosen – but overall I would lean more towards painted #constchat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
We use slab door styles, too – really easy to clean & don't collect gunk on profiles #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A4. I personally like paint better. Gloss is easy to clean and looks good, too. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
a4 white and off-white cabinets are trending over 80% according to @thenkba 2015 Style Report #ConstChat
— Scott Koehler (@koehlerdesigns) October 22, 2015
Q5. How can cabinets keep you organized?
If you're not making a mess you're doing it wrong. #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A5 – cabs based on what they have in proper locations can make a ton of difference – baking all in one area, etc… #constchat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
Here's a better view of a beautiful Ivory kitchen that was built with our cabinets #ConstChat pic.twitter.com/QWqPwX5ZcK
— Fabuwood Cabinetry (@Fabuwood) October 22, 2015
A5b – another good option is the organizers in them but it still gets down to how they use them #constchat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
A5. I like to organize cabinets by what I use the most. Most-used closest, less-used farthest away. Simple. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
A5. Cabinets don't provide organization, it's all about the organizers placed in the cabinets; lazy susans, spice racks, etc. #ConstChat
— Direct Sinks (@DirectSinks) October 22, 2015
A5 We keep all the spices, utensils, pots & pans closest to the stove #ConstChat
— Construction Data (@cdcnews) October 22, 2015
If you spring for mostly drawers in base cabs you can stay more organized. I changed over to dishes in drawers; never looked back #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
Q6. What unique ways have you put cabinets in your home?
Only use organizer doodads for small loose things. Bigger stuff fights with organizers #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A6 I put a bunch of horizontal lift up door cabs in our cave to stash all our movies, cd's extra stuff & get it up off the floor #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A6) We love creativity. We had a customer put our Shaker cabinets into their child's bedroom for storage #ConstChat pic.twitter.com/GG1OZwh566
— Fabuwood Cabinetry (@Fabuwood) October 22, 2015
Q7. What is a more popular choice: traditional, contemporary or transitional cabinets?
A7 – lean to it is regional but seeing more modern overall #ConstChat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
By the numbers via @thenkba #ConstChat cc @RigginsConst #Kitchen #design #DreamKitchen pic.twitter.com/TyObDmi1aF
— Scott Koehler (@koehlerdesigns) October 22, 2015
A7 our view is skewed b/c all we do is modern, but we do have requests for simple shaker that we do also #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A7) Other than seeing a lot of white kitchens, we have also seen a great amount of two-tone kitchens that are BEAUTIFUL #ConstChat
— Fabuwood Cabinetry (@Fabuwood) October 22, 2015
A7. Mostly we work with modern. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
This Wellington Cinnamon and Ivory combo is one of my favorites #ConstChat pic.twitter.com/LYtY9mlPmh
— Fabuwood Cabinetry (@Fabuwood) October 22, 2015
Q8. What is your favorite accessory that you can’t live without?
A8. Use the stand mixer a lot. It has sliders on the feet so it slides across the counter. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
A8 – wine rack, coffee maker… Design wise – blue tape https://t.co/yv20zm9kbh #ConstChat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
well, corkscrew/bottle opener is a given, so after that I'd say rice cooker #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
Q8. I'd recommend WineLogic! If you love wine like we do, it's the best organizer in your kitchen https://t.co/9F0exNw4VZ #ConstChat
— Direct Sinks (@DirectSinks) October 22, 2015
A8 coffee maker I guess, we were without a microwave for a couple of weeks and we survived #ConstChat
— Construction Data (@cdcnews) October 22, 2015
A8 an obvious choice for us! #ConstChat #fireplaces pic.twitter.com/WmVMbJIz80
— Heatilator Fireplace (@Heatilator) October 22, 2015
Q9. Do you prefer an integrated seating with your island or peninsula or separate breakfast nook?
A9 – depends on kitchen layout & cust wants – personally I have it integrated into my island #ConstChat
— Sean Lintow Sr. (@The_HTRC) October 22, 2015
Usually we do an open plan so the table where we eat is part of the whole kitchen space. #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A9. Separate breakfast nook because our kitchen is small. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
A9 Integrated, so everyone can hang out while the meal is being made #ConstChat
— Construction Data (@cdcnews) October 22, 2015
Q10. Wood paneling over your fridge or stainless steel?
We usually just let aplpiances be what they are. Occasionally we'll match front panels but not often #constchat
— ecomod (@ecomod) October 22, 2015
A10. Stainless over the fridge. #ConstChat
— Window Works CA (@WindowWorksCA) October 22, 2015
